This policy explains what information MagicPalette collects, how optional ads and the one-time purchase work, and what we don't do — across our iOS and Android apps.
Template notice: this page is a starting draft for a free-to-play kids' app that uses optional rewarded ads (via Google AdMob), a virtual coin currency, and a one-time purchase. Replace every bracketed placeholder with your real details and have this reviewed by a lawyer before publishing. Apps that advertise to children carry specific legal obligations (COPPA in the U.S., Google Play's Families Policy, and — if you list under Apple's Kids Category — Apple's stricter kids' advertising rules), so this section deserves real legal review, not just a template.
MagicPalette ("the app," "we," "us") is a drawing and coloring app for children, made by MagicPaletteStudios, an independent developer. This policy covers both the iOS version and the Android version, since they work the same way and are treated as one product.
MagicPalette does not require an account, login, or profile to use. We do not collect a child's name, photo, contact list, precise location, or any other directly identifying information. The information we do receive is limited to:
If a parent contacts us directly by email for support, we'll have whatever information they choose to include in that message, such as their email address.
MagicPalette is designed to limit personal information collection from children, in line with the spirit of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and comparable rules elsewhere (such as the UK Age Appropriate Design Code and the EU's GDPR-K provisions).
If we ever introduce a feature that would collect more personal information from a child, we will update this policy first and, where required by law, obtain verifiable parental consent before that feature is available.
MagicPalette is free to download and use. Some brushes, stickers, and coloring packs unlock with an in-app currency called coins, earned by:
Coins are a virtual, in-app reward mechanic only. They have no cash value, cannot be withdrawn or transferred, are stored on the device (or tied to the app installation), and are not linked to any personally identifying information.
MagicPalette shows optional, reward-based video ads through Google AdMob. Ads only appear when a child actively chooses to watch one in exchange for coins — they never interrupt drawing and never play automatically.
For details on how Google AdMob itself processes data, see Google's Privacy & Terms at policies.google.com/privacy and, for advertising specifically, AdMob's own policies.
MagicPalette offers a single one-time in-app purchase that removes ads and unlocks all content permanently. There is no subscription and no recurring billing anywhere in the app.
We do not share, sell, or rent personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. Limited technical data may be processed by service providers who help us operate the app, such as:
We may also disclose information if required to comply with a legal obligation, or to protect the safety of our users.
Depending on platform, the app may request the following permissions, only for the purpose stated and only at the moment they're needed:
MagicPalette does not request camera, microphone, contacts, or precise-location access.
Because MagicPalette doesn't create accounts or collect a child's personal information directly, there is typically no personal data profile for a parent to request or delete. If you believe your child has provided personal information to us in another way (for example, through a support email), you can ask us to review, correct, or delete it at any time — see the Contact section below.
We also encourage parents to use their device's built-in parental controls (such as Screen Time on iOS or Family Link on Android) to manage overall app usage, ad exposure, and in-app purchases.
Artwork a child creates is stored locally on the device, not on our servers, and stays there until the app is deleted or the child clears it. Coin balances are similarly stored on-device or tied to the app installation. Aggregate diagnostic, usage, and advertising data is retained only as long as needed for the purposes described above, then deleted or fully anonymized. We use industry-standard safeguards, such as encrypted connections, to protect any data in transit.
This policy applies to both versions of MagicPalette. A few platform notes:
If we make material changes to this policy — especially any change to what information we collect from children, or how ads or purchases work — we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify parents through the app or app store listing before the change takes effect.
